Strategic Plan

On June 30th the Dormann Library voted on the following workforce philosophy in support of the library’s mission, vision and strategic goals. The proposal, which passed unanimously, reads as follows:

“WHEREAS the Strategic Plan of the Library includes securing the financial sustainability of the library, establishing a staff structure and compensation scale to optimize staffing, and establishing a performance-based compensation and advancement framework;

BE IT RESOLVED that the board adopts the following “Workforce Philosophy” and directs the library director to develop a plan in accordance:

The mission of the Dormann Public Library is to provide free and fair access to educational materials and experiences that promote lifelong learning, creativity, and connection in our community. The Board establishes priorities, objectives, and actions in furtherance of this mission through the strategic plan. Consistent with the mission and the strategic plan, the workplace philosophy of the library is to,:

• Attract, retain, and develop talent through full-time positions that meet the median compensation for comparable institutions;
• Attract, retain, and develop talent via a pathway to advancement and professional growth;
• Supplement full-time capacity with limited part-time workers only when special knowledge or skills are required;
• Use independent contractors with flexible contracts to enhance capacity in a flexible manner.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board directs the Director to develop a staffing model and plan consistent with this Philosophy, for review and consideration at a meeting in July 2026.”
